Power BI – Refresh data on schedule
2 methods
Introduction:
This article will show two ways on how to schedule a refresh on a Power BI dataset.
Method 1 – Power BI Workspace
Step 1:
From the Power BI Service homepage (https://app.powerbi.com/), Select the workspace containing the report to be refreshed. You should see the Semantic Model item of the report. Hover over that item and click on the ‘Schedule Refresh’ icon.
Step 2:
It will bring you to the Semantic Model settings. Click on the ‘Refresh’ title and it will open up the details. Set up the schedule as preferred and click ‘Apply’.
Method 2 – Power Automate Action
Step 1:
Create a scheduled cloud flow. On the Recurrence trigger, set the interval of the refresh. In the example on the image, the schedule is set to once a day at 12 midnight.
Step 2:
Add the action named ‘Refresh a dataset’ under Power BI. Select the workspace and the report which you intend to refresh. Test the flow as needed.
